Siemens establishes first MindSphere Application Center for smart infrastructure in China

Siemens opened its first MindSphere Application Center for smart infrastructure in China at Siemens Center Shanghai today. Based on MindSphere, the application center will dig out customer needs in a co-creative environment, use domain know-how and IoT platform technologies, bring together experts from architectural solutions, communication and software fields as well as technology experts to conduct research and application development, drive business transformation of enterprises and even industries through digitalization, so as to create more business values.

“Today’s increasingly digitalized energy landscape generates vast amounts of data, but fully exploiting this treasure with analysis and new digital offerings is a complex task. It will be the key to unlocking the enormous potential of digital, electrified and IT-based smart infrastructure for global sustainable development today and in the future. As a trustworthy partner, Siemens can provide solutions for customers from various infrastructure fields,” said Markus Mildner, Executive Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China and General Manager of Siemens Greater China Energy Management Division. “The MindSphere Application Center established at Siemens Center Shanghai will better offer digital services to Chinese customers to create an innovative technology ecosystem and achieve a win-win situation across the value chain. Together with customers, we are committed to the digital development of smart infrastructure and their energy systems in China in the future."

Specifically, the functions of the digital application center will include understanding customers’ business pain points and needs, exploring the value that digital transformation can bring to customers; promoting the connections between underlying physical components(such as products and devices) and MindSphere in the industry, laying a solid foundation for upper-level digital applications and the corresponding digital business transformation, supporting customers to create upper-level applications that are easier to use, more friendly and more functional; understanding data and the value it can generate, achieving data analysis under the requirements of business needs and models based on technical means such as artificial intelligence, big data and cloud, truly turning data into information, knowledge and insights; seeking partners to build a business development ecosystem based on MindSphere.

Driven by decarbonization, decentralization and digitalization, the smart infrastructure business is changing, and digital transformation is the primary engine of this change. Maximizing the effectiveness of digital transformation requires developing new development patterns that closely combine businesses with data and technologies to create value for enterprises. In this case, MindSphere Application Centers come into being. So far, Siemens has established MindSphere Application Centers in more than 50 locations around the world for different business areas. Five of them, aiming for industry, power generation, mobility and smart city respectively, are in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hong Kong. This MindSphere Application Center established at Siemens Center Shanghai is Siemens’ sixth MindSphere Application Center in China and the first one for smart infrastructure.
