The online final of the 15th “Siemens Cup” China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge (CIMC) concluded today. As a national-level competition jointly organized by Siemens and China’s Ministry of Education (MoE), the competition has been held for 15 consecutive years. Co-organized by the Huzhou Municipal Government of Zhejiang Province for the first time, this year’s competition was held both online and offline. About 17,000 students from almost 700 schools gravitated towards its 36 sub-competition regions nation-wide.

“High-quality digital talents serve not only as a key element in the development of China's intelligent manufacturing, but also a drive pushing Siemens to keep moving forward,” said Wang Haibin, Executive Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China and General Manager of Digital Industries, Siemens Greater China. “Over the past 15 years, we have introduced advanced concepts of German engineering education into China by supporting this top competition in the field of industrial education, vigorously promoted the development of China's engineering education, and delivered a large number of excellent reserve talents in various engineering technology majors to China industry.”

The “Siemens Cup” CIMC is committed to promoting learning, teaching and training through competitions, effectively cultivating future-oriented “New Engineers”, and selecting innovative interdisciplinary talents in the digital age. Since its start in 2006, the “Siemens Cup” CIMC has attracted nearly 800 schools to participate, cultivating and delivering almost 60,000 outstanding innovative engineering talents for China industry.

This year, as one of the organizers, Siemens granted the competitors free access to a series of professional software including SinuTrain, sent professional engineers to design and develop the Test Project and act as on-site technical instructor and referees, and helped the technical team of the competition’s secretariat launch online teaching and lectures covering hot topics such as Siemens network edge devices. The online final of the “Siemens Cup” CIMC attracted a total of 17,000 viewers.

Since 2005, Siemens has been promoting the Siemens Cooperates with Education (SCE) Program in China and boosting the country’s development of engineering talents in forms of laboratory co-building projects between school and enterprise, teacher training, textbook compilation and events organization. In May 2016, Siemens and the MoE signed a new round of MoC on Education to cultivate innovation-oriented talents for the transformation and upgrading of China’s industry under the framework of Sino-German cooperation. Up to 2021, Siemens has built more than 400 laboratories in China through cooperation with schools, trained over 4,000 teachers engaged in frontline teaching, and published over 2 million textbooks. In a bid to further build its education ecosystem, Siemens established the Smart Learning & Professional Education Dept. (VM Education) in Digital Industries, Siemens China on October 1, 2021 to solidify its commitment to the building of an intelligent manufacturing talent training and education ecosystem, meanwhile help undergraduates dash the “last mile” in landing a job, and cultivate more outstanding “New Engineers” for Siemens, Siemens' industrial partners and China's manufacturing industry.
