Siemens joins hands with GCL Group to build digital super factory for hydrogen production equipment

Siemens and Golden Concord Holdings Limited (GCL Group) signed a strategic cooperation agreement today to conduct cooperation on hydrogen production from renewable energy and jointly build a digital super factory in this field. The cooperation between the two sides will contribute to China’s efforts to accelerate the energy structure adjustment and boost the application of renewable energy, helping the country achieve the development goal of carbon neutrality and build a zero-carbon society.

“Promoting the development of hydrogen energy will not only help achieve the ‘30/60 goal’, but also further increase the proportion of clean energy in total energy consumption, as well as its use efficiency and reserve level, thereby optimizing the energy structure and promoting China’s low-carbon transition,” said Zhu Xiaoxun, Executive Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China and General Manager of Siemens Advanta China. “Siemens has played an exemplary role and accumulated rich and useful experience in leading the development of global low-carbon industries. We are able to start from top-level planning and project implementation to business model design and actuarial analysis on carbon emissions in an all-round manner, and co-create solutions for the coordinative optimization of supply and demand together with all partners to empower interested parties in the power, industrial energy, building, and transportation industries. Siemens is looking forward to working with GCL Group and its strategic partners to contribute our strength in China’s carbon neutrality process.”

Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of Golden Concord Holdings Limited, said: “We hope to work closely with Siemens to bring into play our respective advantages, share resources, complement each other’s advantages, and conduct in-depth cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy to contribute to the realization of China’s goal of ‘carbon neutrality’.”

According to the agreement, Siemens and GCL Group will focus their cooperation on the construction of a super factory, technology R&D, and digital talent training. In terms of the construction of the super factory, the two sides will jointly build GCL Group’s megawatt-level hydrogen energy equipment super factory for the manufacture and assembly of equipment and systems for hydrogen production via electrolysis, as well as fuel cell equipment and systems. The super factory will introduce Siemens’ Industry 4.0 concept, build a digital production line based on the industrial internet and an intelligent full-lifecycle management platform, committed to serving as a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing of hydrogen energy equipment in China. In terms of technology R&D, they will jointly develop power electronic systems, hydrogen production materials and technologies, and advanced control systems, and participate in relevant scientific research projects in China. In terms of digital talent training, the two companies pledged to carry out in-depth cooperation in the Tsinghua-Siemens Digital Transformation Leadership Program to improve GCL Group’s development concept and digital management capabilities in the digital age.
