Siemens new generation process control system launches first global application in China

•Siemens process control system SIMATIC PCS neo to support the demonstration project of digital sewage treatment plant in China

Siemens launched the first global application of its future-oriented, new generation process control system, SIMATIC PCS neo, in China. Siemens will provide SIMATIC PCS neo process control system, MindSphere - the cloud-based open IoT operating system, as well as software and hardware solutions including ET 200SP HA, for the new project of Sandaoyan Second Sewage Treatment Plant in Chengdu. Based on the platform of SIMATIC PCS neo, the sewage treatment plant will become a demonstration plant for digital sewage treatment in China. After completion, its sewage treatment capacity will be 25,000 tons per day, and the plant will play an important role in local efforts of water pollution control, and protection of water quality and ecological balance.

Siemens is a leading technology company worldwide specializing in electrification, automation and digitalization. We are working together with Chinese partners to explore the opportunities brought by intelligent manufacturing and are committed to providing advanced products and solutions for the industry. SIMATIC PCS neo is the new generation of control system launched by Siemens in the digital age, and equipped with a variety of industry-leading technologies,” said Dr. Yao Jun, General Manager of Process Automation and Vice President of Digital Industries Siemens Ltd., China. “Through our cooperation with Chengdu Xihui Water Environment Co., Ltd., that deploys the digital platforms such as SIMATIC PCS neo in the Sandaoyan project, we are creating a new model of digital project for water enterprises.”

The water industry is currently in a transition from automation to informatization, digitalization and ultimately intelligentization, therefore this project is a key milestone for our company to initiate such transition into intelligent water, and will become a benchmark project of digital water plants in China. We’ve been focusing on water-related business for 70 years, and hope to answer the challenge today though our work with Siemens, in order to achieve the long-term business vision of our company and seize the opportunities for accelerated growth and sustainable development in the future, building a much stable and reliable urban infrastructure,” said Li Jian, Chairman of Chengdu Xihui Water Environment Co., Ltd.

SIMATIC PCS neo supports remote monitoring of mobile terminal, that is more convenient for operators to manage equipment operation and maintenance, and response to equipment failures in a timely manner, to realize transparent and digital operation of the water plant, thus reducing the management cost of water plant control center. Its built-in standardized and modular programming library enables easy reconstruction and extension of the water plant by simply copy and paste, laying a foundation for digitalized construction of the plant. In addition, the engineering configuration coordination function of SIMATIC PCS neo can help customers achieve web-based design, configuration, simulation and commissioning, and improve the efficiency and quality of water plant construction. At the same time, the research and development of SIMATIC PCS neo follows the security standards of IACS, and obtained the security certificate of TÜV, providing users with the highest level of security guarantee.

In this project, Siemens also provides SIMATIC ET 200SP HA series IO. This series of products adopts the world’s leading industrial signal acquisition technology -industrial Ethernet in the process industry, which can be used to directly get through the big data freeway and extend digitalization to the workshop level. Its SP HA cards based on digital ID technology can support all components be used to quickly gather information on operation, maintenance and asset of modules and components. In addition, SIMATIC ET 200SP HA series is also equipped with wide temperature and anti-corrosion functions as a standard configuration, with strong environmental adaptability and good system robustness.
