Siemens employees donate to support combat against novel coronavirus

Over 6,200 employees from Siemens entities in China jointly pledged a donation totaling RMB 2.2 million in support of China’s efforts in fighting against the novel coronavirus. The donation is in an echo to the call of Siemens China and Siemens Healthineers China, and on top of the companies’ commitment to donating RMB 15 million worth of medical equipment to designated hospitals in Wuhan, announced on February 3.

The employee donation represents staff from about 50 entities of Siemens businesses across China as well as those of Siemens Healthineers China, who demonstrated great enthusiasm in joining the nationwide fight to curb the spread of the disease and save people’s lives. The accumulated donation by the company and employees will be for purchase of Siemens Healthineers medical equipment, including computed tomography, mobile DR, ultrasound and blood gas equipment that are much needed by the local hospitals in Wuhan, and will be conducted through cooperation with Wuhan Youth Development Foundation.

“At this critical moment, the donation made by our employees is far beyond a monetary value. It signifies the belief of Siemens people - to care and take responsibility,” said Lothar Herrmann, President and CEO Siemens Greater China. “Once again our employees demonstrated that Siemens is a long-term trusted partner of China.”

Siemens and its employees responded swiftly to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus and since then have been making all-out efforts in support of the country’s endeavor.
