• To jointly set up HBIS-Siemens IoT Services Enabling Center
Siemens signed a digital strategic agreement today with HBIS Group Co., Ltd (HBIS) to deepen the cooperation in the R&D and implementation of digitalization. Both parties will further collaborate in areas including MindSphere - Siemens’ cloud-based open IoT operating system, digital factory, intelligent equipment R&D and regional industrial IoT platform, and are committed to powering replacement of growth drivers, as well as transformation and upgrade of the steel industry through digital technology, in order to build the world’s most competitive steel enterprise.
“The new agreement marks another step forward in our long-lasting cooperation with HBIS as an important strategic partner,” said Lothar Herrmann, President and CEO Siemens Greater China. “With our unmatched digital portfolio, industry expertise and global footprint, we are delivering the strongest support to Chinese industrial enterprises with their pursuit of sustainable development and global competitiveness.”
“Siemens has always been a leader and innovator in industrial reforms. It has rich experiences and achievements in digital solutions, industrial IOT and some other emerging areas. We are confident in the cooperation with Siemens in industrial digitalization and intelligent manufacturing. We will learn from each other and work together to help with the upgrade in the steel industry for its growth in the long-run,” said Yu Yong, Chairman of the Board of HBIS.
According to the agreement, HBIS and Siemens will promote the application of MindSphere in the field of manufacturing in China, and HBIS will become the first steel enterprise in China connecting to MindSphere. Besides, the two parties will jointly build HBIS’ New Material Hefei Manufacturing Center into a model of digital factory, in a bid to lead the industry’s digital transformation. In addition, the two parties will build a joint lab to promote the R&D and industrialization of intelligent equipment, ultimately driving the unmanned and intelligent upgrade of HBIS production line, as well as the application of intelligent equipment technology in Hebei Province and steel industry. Lastly, the two parties will build HBIS-Siemens IoT Services Enabling Center to develop data layer and industrial-oriented applications with the basis of HBIS’ existing cloud platform, and to build up an innovation demonstration base for intelligent manufacturing and digital upgrade of urban infrastructure.
HBIS is one of the world’s largest steel manufacturers and integrated service providers. Early in 2016, Siemens signed a strategic agreement with HBIS for in-depth cooperation in digital factory, intelligent manufacturing, supply chains management and emerging industries, to explore practice of intelligent manufacturing solutions. In 2018, another project was signed about the advanced unmanned digital stock-yard system in Hegang Leting Steel Co., Ltd, to implement the first unmanned conveyor and intelligent control system in a large integrated stock yard in the metallurgical industry. In March this year, the two parties signed a strategic agreement to advance partnership on additive manufacturing.
