The Siemens Water Summit 2021 was successfully held in Chengdu on April 26-27. With the theme of "Profound Accumulations and Concerted Efforts for Long-Term Development", the summit built a platform for more than 300 participants from the water industry to discuss the future development of the industry, interpret relevant policies, and share the application of cutting-edge digital technologies. At this summit, the "Siemens Digital Water" white paper was officially released. Through in-depth analysis of the digital challenges faced by China's water industry, it pointed out that technological innovation and model innovation will lead the development of the water industry in the digital age. The white paper clearly defined the concepts of water management and digital water management, systematically put forward the principles and framework of the water value chain, and comprehensively presented the enabling technologies, key technologies and demonstration projects of Siemens to empower the digital transformation of the water industry, aiming to help China's water industry enhance sustainable competitiveness in the digital age. During the summit, Siemens also signed a framework agreement for the joint construction of the Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Smart Water with Central Plains Environment Protection Co., Ltd. (CPEP) and Henan SMARTER WATER Co., Ltd. to conduct research and cooperation in such aspects as the construction of smart wastewater treatment plant projects and smart water IoT platforms, as well as patents and technical standards related to smart wastewater treatment plants.

"We've seen in the 14th Five-Year Plan that China will boost coordinated efforts to promote high-quality economic development and high-level protection of the ecological environment. As an important part of the construction of ecological civilization, the water industry has a broad development prospect," said Wang Haibin, Executive Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China and General Manager of Digital Industries Siemens Greater China. "As cutting-edge technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, edge computing, and cloud computing continue to be integrated into all aspects of the water industry, digital technology will show unlimited potential. Siemens is willing to work with its partners to empower the digital ecosystem with technology, promote the digital transformation and high-quality development of China's water industry, and contribute to the construction of an ecological environment in which man and nature coexist harmoniously."

As one of the important achievements of the "Siemens Digital Water Eco-system", the second sewage treatment project in Boai County jointly established by Siemens, CPEP and Henan Smart Water Co., Ltd. stood out in the selection of the "Most Influential Engineering Project of the Year 2020 in China's Automation Industry". With the smart sewage plant that features full lifecycle management capabilities from integrated design and construction to integrated operation and maintenance, and highly unified software and hardware, the second sewage treatment plant in Boai County, Jiaozuo City is also China's first benchmarking smart sewage plant project.

digital sewage treatment demonstration project based on the SIMATIC PCS neo platform. Upon completion, its sewage treatment capacity will reach 25,000 tons per day, which will play a vital role in local water pollution control, water quality protection and ecological balance. As the first web-based control system in the process industry, SIMATIC PCS neo has set a new benchmark for the digitization of the process industry.
