Siemens launches Visicon Compact in China: Boosting the performance of logistics hubs

  • Innovative variant of the Visicon for the Chinese market
  • High-performance, fully automated singulation technology with AI-based vision system
  • Minimal space requirements for easy integration into existing systems

Siemens has expanded its product portfolio for parcel sorting centers and developed a globally unique, ultra-compact variant of the proven Visicon singulation technology specifically for the Chinese market. The impressive new Visicon Compact requires very little space and can be integrated flexibly into the layout of both new and existing systems. The intelligent, fully automated solution singulates up to 7,000 small consignments per hour within an area measuring less than 7 square meters. Large volumes of e-commerce parcels with different sizes, formats and packaging materials can be processed rapidly and smoothly and prepared for the next steps in the sorting process. Siemens Visicon is widely used in the world, and Visicon Compact has also set up pilot reference in China recently.

"With the innovative Visicon Compact, our customers profit from a space-saving and yet highly efficient technology," said Qing Ye, CEO of Siemens Logistics Automation Systems (Beijing) Co. "Siemens’ growing portfolio of scalable solutions significantly increase the level of system automation, improve operational capacity and generate fast cost savings."

Siemens' proven Visicon re-arranges side-by-side consignments into a continuous stream of singulated parcels with defined spacing. This prepares the items for downstream processing steps such as scanning, weighing and sorting. A key element of the Visicon is a sophisticated vision system based on artificial intelligence (AI), which accurately detects the shape, size and position of each consignment. This information is transmitted in real time to a control system, which determines singulation parameters, and adapts the speed of each individual band or belt accordingly. The result is the precise, fully automated singulation of packages in the smallest of spaces.

In addition to Visicon Compact, Visicon is available in two configurations: Visicon Polaris (for large and heavier parcels) and Visicon Capella (for smaller and lighter parcels).

Siemens Logistics has its own Chinese national company, Siemens Logistics Automation Systems (Beijing) Co., which is headquartered in Beijing. With this local presence, Siemens provides advanced technical products and solution, and ensures optimum customer service and competent local handling of projects.
