Siemens signed a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement with Henan province today in the field of intelligent manufacturing & industrial internet, city sustainable development, overseas EPC project and supply chain, as well as talent cultivation and innovation. The cooperation aims to promote industrial transformation and high-quality development in the province. Yin Hong, governor of Henan province, Lothar Herrmann, President and CEO of Siemens Greater China, witnessed the signing ceremony. Huang Qiang, executive vice governor of Henan province, and Han Lei, Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China and General Manager of Region Central China, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties.

“The signing of the agreement takes our partnership with Henan to a new level in depth and breadth, ” said Herrmann. “With strong expertise and know-how in digitalization, as well as rich experiences in industrial talent education, Siemens is confident to support Henan’s industrial transformation and upgrade, taking a concreate step forward to innovation-driven and high-quality development.”

Under the agreement, in terms of intelligent manufacturing and industrial internet, Siemens will draw on its advanced technology and rich experience in industrial automation and digitalization to help Henan improve its intelligent manufacturing capability by developing pilot projects in the cement, steel, equipment manufacturing and other key industries, building Industrial Internet Enabling Center with local companies and developing the province’s industrial chain and ecosystem. In terms of city sustainable development, both parties will further deepen collaboration in rail transit, grid construction, urban intelligent water management and intelligent parks. In the field of overseas EPC projects and supply chain, based on the good cooperation in the fields of power transmission and distribution, construction machinery and mining machinery, Siemens will actively join hands with local enterprises to participate in the construction of overseas EPC projects. In talent training and R&D innovation, Siemens will join with local companies, universities and R&D institutes to develop and promote artificial intelligence, the application of 5G, digital twin and other technologies. By working with Henan institutes of higher education as well as colleges in vocational education and training, Siemens is committed to providing technological and talent support for Henan’s industrial transformation and upgrading.

For years, Siemens has played an important role in key infrastructure projects covering industrial, energy, medical and infrastructure sectors in Henan. For example, the company provided automation systems and drivers for Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd and Anyang Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd, developed traction, DC power supply, transmission and distribution, environmental control and integrated management solutions for Zhengzhou Metro, and worked with CITIC Heavy Industries Co., Ltd on several overseas EPC projects.
