Words from Dr. Richard Hausmann
We have an unmatched range of energy and environment-related products and services. We help power producers generate and distribute energy with greater efficiency and environmental care. And we help businesses and facilities manage their energy consumption most cost effectively. Siemens is committed to a sustainable future for society, both in the environmental and energy-saving standards that we practice and in the technologies that we provide to our customers.
Experts predict that China¡¯s demand for electric power will nearly triple by 2030, while
worldwide demand will double in that time. Therefore an increase of the overall energy efficiency by 20 % is one goal of the 11th 5 year plan.
To help power utilities meet that demand, Siemens has developed some of the world's most efficient power generation technologies, and provides the services to maintain that efficiency at peak levels and the transmission facilities to distribute power most effectively. To reduce dependency on oil, we have also invested in a wide range of alternative power sources, from wind to coal gasification to fuel cells.
Virtually all our products help our customers ¨C businesses, government and consumers ¨C manage their energy needs and reduce costs. From more efficient lighting to climate control in buildings, and from pollution control to waste-to-energy solutions to water treatment, as well as traffic management and mass transit systems,
Siemens' innovations are contributing to energy efficiency and savings and environmental care.
To help our customers understand how they can share in these benefits to improve their competitiveness, we prepared this summary of energy-related technologies.
Some will be demonstrated by success stories in China.
To live up our role as good corporate citizens we are building our new Siemens Headquarters in Beijing and Shanghai in an economically friendly design with the most advanced building automation systems from Siemens.
They will use around one third less energy than a comparable office building in China.
I hope you find it helpful to read about the success and innovations from Siemens for a more sustainable future for China.
